The gridlines on this map are one kilometer apart.

On July 22 and 23, Jason and I hiked Jack's River Run in the Cohutta Wilderness. Our hike starts just West of this map (the adjoining quadrangle does not show the trail), past the falls and back again. The trail is in beautiful North Georgia just south of Tennessee. This trail is fun. It crosses over Jack's River (out of necessity - sometimes one side of the river is steep rock) many times on its way to the highlight of the trail, a tiered waterfall that's good for swimming.

As long as you have a walking staff to keep you from falling when you slip the crossings work out fine - as soon as your feet get muddy or your legs get hot, the river is there to wash and cool you off.

The weather was excellent except for rain the first few afternoon hours of our hike. At night it was cool, cool enough to want to be in a 20°F bag but not cold enough to want to zip it. On our hike we saw two snakes - one floating down the river, one salamander, some fish, people and two golden retrievers.

The photos are still cooking. Expect a small gallery soon.
